Elmo’s Song

La la la la, la la la la, Mommy’s losing her mind. You want to listen to “Elmo’s Song” over and over and over and over and over and over and this is torture over and over and over and over and over and pretty sure this is used to crack terrorists at Guantanamo over and over and over and over and over over and holy hell make it stop I’ll do anything you want over and over again. Even though this song is waterboarding Mommy’s ears, she caught herself singing it at work. Actually, her 22-year-old intern caught her singing it and asked if she was being ironic. (Mommy mumbled something about a Macklemore and Ryan Lewis remix she heard on Songza. Yo, Mommy’s gonna pop some tags off her Old Navy capris, baller!*) Your obsession with listening to the same song on repeat can’t totally be blamed on you. It may be in your DNA. There was, after all, a period in her own life when she stood by her ghetto blaster and waited until “More Than Words” by Extreme came on the radio so she could record it, rewind it, and listen to it 412 times in a row. Mommy would like to take this time to apologize to her own mother for that.

TICKLE ME TIPSY: Blend ½ cup frozen raspberries, 1 oz of rum, 1 oz banana liquor and a splash of cranberry cocktail.  Serve with noise cancelling headphones and a plea bargain.

*Mommy has no idea what this sentence means.

On a car trip from Ottawa to TO, where it was just me and the 6 month old, I sang this bloody song at the top of my lungs for an hour straight. It was the ONLY thing that would make the kid stop crying. By the end of it, I was dizzy and exhausted, due to the fact that I could barely take a breath before starting all over again! We bought the Sesame St. CD shortly after. This song has a special place in my heart… I feel your pain.

HA HA HA HA HA!!!! I can’t believe we have both lived (slash are still living) through this nightmare.

Have you watched the actual video of it? My hubby and my fav part is when Big Bird is chirping Elmo.. “Oh, clever title”. And now this song will be stuck in my head for the rest of the day…

You can feel Big Bird’s sarcasm dripping through YouTube.

We'd love to hear from you!
